			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <strong>Sonata for Piano</strong> is the first major piano solo work by David Yeagley using his new system of harmonic organization.   Yeagley has written numerous piano solo works, but this one is the first employing the harmonic system he began developing in 1994, at the University of Arizona, where he studied with <a href="http://www.danielasia.net/info.asp?pb=144&amp;pg=1">Daniel Asia</a>.  (Yeagley received his Doctorate in Musical Arts in August, 1994, and majored in piano performance and minored in composition.)</p>
<p>The <strong>Sonata for Piano</strong> is in four movements, and follows the classical sonata form.  It also involves both late Romantic gestures, and innovative shapes and expression.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><em><strong>A Cross Shines Over the City</strong></em> is a memorial for the victims who died in the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, April 19, 1995.  It is also a hymn to the noble spirit of the city at that time.  The composer lives in Oklahoma City, and was present when the tragedy occurred.  This composition was written at that time. </p>
<p>The music is scored for S.A.T.B., organ, and piano.  It was written for congregational setting, but the music is considered tonally difficult. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A work <a href="http://www.city-sentinel.com/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=2133:native-american-artist-adds-new-life-to-film&amp;catid=16:entertainment&amp;Itemid=100267">commissioned by the Oklahoma State Historical Society</a>, &#8220;Daughter of Dawn&#8221; is an 80-minute symphonic score written as the sound track to a 1920 silent movie, &#8220;Daughter of Dawn.&#8221;  It was commissioned in December, 2007.   It is score for full orchestra, and comprises non-repetitive music to match the story on screen.   Dr. Yeagley is the first American Indian classical composer to be commissioned for a full-length movie score.</p>
<p>The movie is the first American Indian drama, and feature all Indian actors, Comanche and Kiowa.  It is based on legends and love stories, and protrays, among other scenes, a buffalo hunt.  It was filmed in the Witchita Mountains of southwestern Oklahoma.  </p>
